Inside Line Promotions – WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (July 30, 2019) – Christopher Bell backed up his victory in the Swindell SpeedLab No. 39 at the beginning of the month with a charge to a podium finish to cap July last Sunday at 34 Raceway, which hosted the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions.

“It was one of those nights we did everything right,” car owner Kevin Swindell said. “We qualified our way into the dash and raced our way into the dash and still ended with a five in the dash redraw. We don’t have an excuse for not going forward in the dash. We shot ourselves in the foot by not making up ground there. That just gets you behind.”

The team qualified second quickest overall – fastest in their group – before advancing from fourth to second place in a heat race. Unfortunately, the highest number – five – was pulled in the dash redraw to line Bell up in the fifth starting position in a dash. He finished in that spot to start the A Main 10th.

“The car was really good in the feature,” Swindell said. “We were seventh on Lap 12. We were pinned in there for a while. I knew going in it’d be top dominant. We were good. I think we were by leaps and bounds the best car after Lap 15. We mowed those guys down and we were a straightaway back from Rico (Abreu) and Tony (Stewart) and did it by a lap once we cleared (Aaron) Reutzel.

“Turns one and two laid rubber pretty early. Whenever Bell got to racing with Rico it had already laid rubber. It hadn’t in turns three and four and we were better in those turns. He just couldn’t get the sliders to stick in the rubber.”

Bell finished third after a close duel for the runner-up position in the closing laps.

The team will return to action this Sunday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during the 8th annual Bell Helmets Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank before racing on Monday at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, during the 24th annual Sage Fruit Front Row Challenge presented by Musco Lighting.

“We’re trying to find a balance between my dad and Bell,” Swindell said. “Hopefully we can learn something for dad as well. I might go there a little different with some things to try to see if we can make an improvement on things that can help dad even more than on Bell’s side.”
